What documents are accepted as Proof of Billing (POB)?

Any one of the following documents can be accepted as Proof of Billing (POB):

  • NIC showing the address
  • Driving License showing the address
  • Utility bill payment (issued within the last 6 months)
  • Bank statements for the last 2 months (e‑statements are not accepted)
  • Documents issued by banks (reminder letters, card‑related, loan‑related, or pawning‑related) issued within the last 2 months
  • Credit card statements issued within the last 2 months
  • Letter from a government institution on official letterhead
  • Grama Sevaka (GS) certificate
  • Tax payee invoice received by post showing the address (issued within the last 6 months)
  • Bills from other service providers (fixed line services only, issued within the last 6 months)
  • Letter from a recognized NGO (applicable only for foreigners)
  • Election card issued within the last 6 months
  • Religious leader’s identity card showing the address
  • Government service ID (doctors, lawyers, armed forces, teachers – must be a valid ID)
  • Registered lease agreement (land, property, or vehicle)
  • Letters received from courts (received within the last 3 months)
  • Government Pensioner’s ID / Government Elder’s ID

All documents must be valid and not expired, where applicable.
