This festival, a cornerstone of cultural heritage in the South of Sri Lanka, is renowned for its deep-rooted traditions and cultural elements intrinsic to Ruhuna.

Recognised as one of the oldest and grandest Buddhist festivals in Sri Lanka, the Esala Perahera first began in 1834. This year, it has been distinguished as one of the top five peraheras in the country. The festival features a series of five peraheras, culminating in the grand Randoli Perahera, each showcasing the rich tapestry of Sri Lankan culture and religious devotion.
