A Vesak Tour

To celebrate Vesak, Dialog invited 30 lucky Club Vision members, along with their families, to experience the marvels of Vesak with a fantastic all-inclusive tour.

To take them around the city, a special open deck, double-decker bus was outfitted for their convenience and bedecked in a manner suiting the Vesak celebrations. The vehicle took them from Vesak zone to zone so that they could admire the creative pandals and colourful lanterns from an elevated viewpoint and snap photos of the glorious decorations.

The journey began at the Dialog Head Office in Colombo 2, where the excited winners and their families took their seats and prepared for a tour unlike any other. Once everyone was safely strapped in, the Colombo City Tour bus took them through Bauddhaloka Mawatha, where the travelers enjoyed the magnificent view of the most vibrant lanterns that festooned the main road.

To make sure that everyone had plenty of energy to enjoy the tour, they were treated to a delicious meal. After that, the bus went to the Gangarama Vesak zone where passengers were allowed to disembark and walk along the Gangarama lake. Stalls of beautifully constructed exhibits were highlighted by the coloured lights that shone from the trees, the lanterns that swung from post to post and the amazing floating displays on the lake. The snap of cameras and click of phones taking photos was a constant as the participants sought to capture all the wonderful sights and displays.

To make the trip even more special, Club Vision arranged an exclusive competition for the children who had come on the trip. The competition was called “Colours of Vesak” and very simple in concept. Any child who had come on the trip could win a prize by snapping a photo of the most colourful Vesak sight and sending it in to the CV team via e-mail.

The trip was a resounding success that truly enabled the lucky winners to experience the wonders of Vesak.
