Dialog Axiata powers country’s biggest tech innovation event ‘Google I/O Extended’

The Telecom Giant is all set to host the event for the 2nd consecutive year.

Google I/O Extended, the largest developer conference organised outside the United States by tech giant Google has joined hands for the second consecutive year with Ideamart, the API platform and the developer community eco system of Sri Lanka’s premier connectivity provider Dialog Axiata PLC to offer a platform for local tech enthusiasts to showcase their talents before global tech gurus.

Google I/O Extended Sri Lanka will be presented by Dialog Axiata in collaboration with Google Developer Group (GDG) Sri Lanka. Dialog Axiata entered a partnership with Google Developer Group Sri Lanka in 2016 to power Google I/O Extended, drawing global recognition for Sri Lanka as regional leader in the areas of innovation and digital inclusivity. In 2016, Google Chief Executive Officer, Sundar Pichchai, made an honorary mention in his keynote speech that Google I/O Extended Sri Lanka was the largest extended event happening outside the United States of America.

This year, TV Derana and Tech Guru have stepped in as media partners, of this grand event.

Google I/O Extended 2017 is split into two separate segments – a conference and an innovation exhibition. The conference, which will take place at the Sirimavo Bandaranayake Hall A, will be attended by participants who have registered prior to the event. This overnight event will be graced by prominent IT industry leaders, including speakers from Google who will share their insights and expertise on industry issues and areas of future growth. The innovation exhibition will showcase novel concepts and tech innovations from Dialog Axiata and other leading companies in Sri Lanka. The exhibition will take place on 17th May from 12 - 9 p.m. at the BMICH (Sirimavo Bandaranayake, Hall B). Along with Dialog’s innovations, Sri Lanka’s top notch IT companies and start-ups will display their new technologies and state-of-the-art products. Attendees will have the opportunity to witness a range of innovations such as open Bot Fight challenge, gaming zones, image recognition based demos, smart devices and many more exciting products and services.
