Dialog Steps Up to Develop Sri Lanka Rugby by Investing in the Champions of Tomorrow

Dialog Axiata PLC, Sri Lanka’s premier connectivity provider and prolific promoter of sports signed a three-year sponsorship agreement with the Sri Lanka Schools Rugby Football Association (SLSRFA) for the Schools Rugby League & Knockout tourneys, in line with its efforts of nurturing the country’s champions of tomorrow.
This sponsorship covers U10, U12, U14, U16, U18 and U19 league championships, Knockout and Sevens championships of Schools Rugby for the next three years. At present 92 schools partake in the Schools Rugby Tourney under the aegis of the Sri Lanka Schools Rugby Football Federation. Going a step further, Dialog also has also stepped up to sponsor the Girl’s School Rugby Sevens tourney which will facilitate over 50 schools from across the island to compete.
Commenting on the sponsorship, Amali Nanayakkara, Group Chief Marketing Officer at Dialog Axiata PLC said, “We are proud to enter into a three-year sponsorship agreement with the Sri Lanka Schools Rugby Football Association for the Schools Rugby League and Knockout Tourneys to empower our champions of tomorrow. This commitment is in line with Dialog’s ethos of investing in our future, today, as exemplified through our sponsorships towards the sport of Rugby from the School level to the National level, to support the development of talent that has the potential for excellence in the international arena.”
Speaking at the agreement signing, Hon. Dullas Alahapperuma MP, Minister of Sports & Youth Affairs said, “We appreciate the efforts and the encouragement provided by Dialog towards the development of sports in this country. As the Minister of Sports, I have no reservations in appreciating and acknowledging Dialog’s commitment to promoting and continuously improving Sri Lanka sports.”
Dialog Axiata is the official sponsor of the Sri Lanka Tuskers, the Junior Tuskers, Club Rugby League and the Clifford Cup knock out tourney. Dialog also sponsors the Colombo leg of the Asia Sevens Championship and is the official sponsor of the Sri Lanka Society of Rugby Football Referees.
