Powered by Dialog Axiata PLC, Sri Lanka’s premier connectivity provider, Genie, Sri Lanka’s first PCI-DSS-certified payment app, has extended its seamless service to parents, students, and administrative bodies in the education sector for a convenient system in securing academic payments for their services digitally.

Dialog is at the forefront of Fintech products since 2012, and by extending its service to the expansive education sector it provides merchants and customers the convenience and ease of making payments via Genie. Most recently, Pay-by-Genie has facilitated leading schools and educational institutes in the country such as Wesley College, National Institute of Business Management (NIBM), Negombo South International College and Inspiro Business School with their administrative, term and course fees. Genie has further extended its virtual payment service to e-learning platforms Notes.lk and Cloud Smart Schools to administer similar periodical payments. Additionally, the Old Boys Union of Isipathana College and Bandaranayake College have also adopted this pay-on-the-go service allowing them to create a linear method for convenient payment transactions made towards their respective Unions.

By onboarding merchants from the academic sector Genie has seen their efforts reach new heights in financial inclusivity, all the while giving academic and administrative staff and payers an added benefit of operating a simple user interface to secure critical payments from anywhere at any time. This virtual mechanism will not only reduce the maladministration of funds but further acts as a vital solution during unprecedented times such as the COVID-19 pandemic when social distancing restrictions were in place, lessening the inconvenience and hassle of payers having to physically secure payments.
