Dialog Innovation Challenge Premieres June 15th on TV Derana

Dialog Axiata PLC, Sri Lanka’s #1 connectivity provider, is thrilled to announce the premiere of the Dialog Innovation Challenge, a captivating TV program airing on TV Derana every Saturday at 10:30 PM, starting June 15th and on DialogTV Channel One every Sunday at 6.30 PM, starting June 16th. This initiative showcases Sri Lanka’s brightest minds as they leverage scalable, innovative digital solutions to tackle key issues among individuals, communities, and businesses. Featuring the competition’s top 50 innovators, selected from over 1,200 applicants through a rigorous evaluation process, the program highlights the country's potential for transformative digital innovation.

Launched in September 2023 with the aim of propelling the country through digital transformation, the Dialog Innovation Challenge received an overwhelming response from innovators of diverse backgrounds. The participants, guided by industry leaders and tech luminaries, underwent an intensive mentorship program to refine their solutions both technically and commercially, equipping them to turn their ideas into impactful solutions. “Our goal is to cultivate a culture of innovation and to empower individuals who are passionate about using technology to make a positive difference,” said Supun Weerasinghe, Group Chief Executive of Dialog Axiata PLC.

The Dialog Innovation Challenge underscores Dialog Axiata PLC’s commitment to fostering innovation and building an e-nation. By spotlighting local talent and providing a platform for digital innovators to shine, the program drives societal transformation through technology. “We believe in the power of innovation to change lives and communities, and this program exemplifies our dedication to supporting the next generation of Sri Lankan innovators,” added Weerasinghe.

To evaluate and guide the next wave of digital innovators in Sri Lanka, Dialog has put together a panel of esteemed judges for the program, including Dr. Ramesh Shanmuganathan, Executive Vice President and Group Chief Information Officer of the John Keells Group; Shashi Kandambi, CEO of National Savings Bank; Sherin Cader, Chairperson of Nations Trust Bank PLC; Renuka Fernando, Group Chief Digital Services Officer of Dialog Axiata PLC and Chairperson of Dialog Finance PLC; Asela Perera, Group Chief Information Officer of Dialog Axiata PLC; Ranga Kariyawasam, Group Chief Technology Officer of Dialog Axiata PLC; and Viranga Seneviratne, Head of ICT and Platforms Business of Dialog Axiata PLC.

With contestants competing for a Rs. 5 million prize pool and an opportunity to pitch for part of the Rs. 500 million DIF (Digital Innovation Fund) investment fund, viewers can expect to be inspired by remarkable creativity and problem-solving prowess.
