Dialog and CEA Equip District Officers to Drive Responsible E-Waste Management

Dialog Axiata PLC, Sri Lanka's #1 connectivity provider, and the Central Environmental Authority (CEA) conducted a Training of Trainers (ToT) programme on responsible electronic waste management at the CEA Auditorium on 1 September 2026. The programme marked the first major on-ground awareness activation following the e-Kunu Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between Dialog and the CEA on 3 August 2026, reinforcing a shared commitment to advancing responsible e-waste practices, circular-economy principles and environmentally compliant disposal nationwide.

The Training of Trainers programme equipped CEA district officers with practical knowledge to become regional awareness multipliers. The programme brought together 100 participants, including 75 district officers representing all 25 districts in Sri Lanka and 25 officials from the Central Environmental Authority. Through sessions on e-Kunu, circular-economy principles, e-waste regulations and responsible disposal practices, participants received practical guidance to support the delivery of consistent awareness programmes for schools, community organisations and the public, using awareness materials developed by Dialog and the CEA.

The programme complemented Dialog's established e-Kunu collection network, with collection boxes available at 24 Dialog Customer Care Centres across Sri Lanka for the convenient handover of accepted small electronic waste. All collected e-waste is handed over to licensed waste management partners for environmentally compliant treatment and disposal. In 2025, Dialog collected 3.74 metric tonnes of public e-waste, responsibly managed 668 tonnes of internal electronic waste and recycled 100% of decommissioned network equipment through authorised recycling partners.
