1st September 2026         Colombo

Dialog Axiata PLC, Sri Lanka’s #1 connectivity provider, marked its 20th consecutive year of sponsorship of the Kandy Esala Perahera, reaffirming its longstanding commitment to preserving and celebrating Sri Lanka’s cultural and religious heritage. This year marks the 1716th celebration of this sacred tradition, recognised as one of the world's leading cultural festivals. The company’s continued support of one of Sri Lanka’s most significant cultural and religious events reflects two decades of patronage dedicated to sustaining traditions that have been passed down through generations.

The 2026 Kandy Esala Perahera was held from 18 to 28 August, drawing devotees, local communities and visitors to the annual procession, which remains one of Sri Lanka’s most recognised cultural and religious festivals. Through its sponsorship, Dialog supported the successful presentation of the event, contributing to the continuation of a tradition that occupies a significant place in the country’s cultural calendar.

Beyond the Kandy Esala Perahera, Dialog continues to support several national religious and cultural events, including the Ruhunu Maha Kataragama Esala Perahera, Gangaramaya Navam Maha Perahera, Kelaniya Duruthu Festival and Gatabaru Esala Perahera, reflecting its ongoing involvement in the preservation of Sri Lanka’s cultural heritage.

This commitment extends beyond event sponsorship to broader heritage preservation initiatives that contribute to protecting and promoting Sri Lanka’s historical and spiritual landmarks. Dialog’s efforts include the construction of the vestibule for the Dimbulagala Aranya Senasanaya, the launch of a website and directory of Amarapura Maha Nikaya temples, and the restoration of the Anuradhapura Maha Vihara Sannipatha Shalawa. Through these initiatives, Dialog continues to play an active role in preserving the traditions, values and cultural heritage that remain integral to the nation’s identity and social fabric.
