Dialog Axiata PLC, Sri Lanka's #1 connectivity provider, has reaffirmed its dedication to preserving and honouring the nation’s diverse cultural and religious legacy through its ongoing support of the Kandy Esala Perahara, also known as the Sri Dalada Perahera or Festival of the Tooth, now marking its 18th year of continuous sponsorship in 2024.
One of the oldest and most venerated religious festivals in Sri Lanka, the Sri Dalada Perahera is set to take place from August 10th to 19th, to commemorate the first sermon of Lord Buddha after he attained enlightenment. A 10-day event, the Kandy Esala Perahera pays homage to the Sacred Tooth Relic and its four guardian deities, Gods Natha, Vishnu, Kataragama and Goddess Pattini. The procession appeals to the Gods, seeking their blessings for rains that will aid the cultivation of crops and the prosperity of the country.
Drawing attendees from all corners of the nation, the magnificent procession captivates thousands, and through live broadcasts on A+ Kids channel (channel no 48) of Dialog Television, Dialog is enabling its customers to enjoy the festivities from their homes, fostering cultural appreciation nationwide.
As Dialog celebrates its 18th year of supporting the Kandy Esala Perahara, it underscores its unwavering commitment to Sri Lanka's cultural heritage and sustainability.
